What is the Safe Zone? The Safe Zone is the area where all the critical elements (text, images, logos, etc.) must be placed, so that they are not trimmed off when the product is trimmed to the final size. Please make sure to remain within the Safe Zone, as elements on the Safe Zone line may be cut off during trimming.
Spot Coating / Spot UV:Coating paper only in specific areas as opposed to all over coating. In a Spot UV job the job gets a UV coating in only specific areas and does not get any AQ coating in any other places. Spot UV can be referred to as spot varnish.
Spot Color:Printing with one or more solid colors, generally black ink is used with the addition of other colors. It is used to add highlight and add color to a printed product without having to print with four-color process.
Currently, we offer Raised Spot UV on one side only.
Since Raised Spot UV coating needs a little bit of clearance to allow for smooth cutting, it won't be applied all the way to the edge.
It is recommended that you do not use smaller than 6pt font on the Raised Spot UV Artwork. If, however, you use fonts with thicker strokes, it is recommended that you do not use smaller than 9pt font.
Spot UV is a flat finish of a shiny layer that goes on the exact spot where you would like your printed piece to have an area of a high gloss coating. Raised Spot UV is the same process, except the UV that gets applied stands out from the product, that if you run your fingers over the card you will feel the UV. The depth of the Raised Spot UV is 50 microns.
Raised Spot UV jobs are set up the same way as Spot UV jobs. When creating a Raised Spot UV job, you must include a Raised Spot UV mask file along with the regular print file. Please note, the mask file must be vector art created in vector-based programs such as Illustrator. The Raised Spot UV mask file is used to show where the UV coating needs to be applied. Please only use solid 100% K (C 0%, M 0%, Y 0%, K 100%) to indicate where you would like the UV. Do not use shadows, glows or grayscale images. White will indicate no UV.
Appropriately sized (A2, A6, A7, A9 and 6.5" square) premium 80# Pearl Text blank envelopes are offered as an option with our StarLustre Announcement Cards.
Although StarLustre Cards do not have UV coating, we recommend that you test your specific application and printer.
